Foster the Family Inc
If you have kids or plan to, think about all of the time you had to prepare. You have time to research and save up for a car seat. You have time to research and save up for a bike. You have time to research and save up for a stroller.
Now, imagine you’re a foster family receiving a call that you have hours to days to pick up and help a child in need that has recently been removed from their family unit. You don’t have age-appropriate items stored away at home and you don’t have time to go shopping at the store or reach out to your support network to ask to borrow items on top of preparing your home for a new arrival.
But you’ve heard of this place that has a storeroom with car seats, stroller, bikes and more available for you to borrow for as long as you need and then bring back so you don’t need to take up your limited storage space. And then another family can borrow it when needed. This is Foster the Family, this is us!
Foster the Family is a 501(c)3, non-profit organization established in 2023 to support foster families and help them say ‘yes!’ to a child. Our flagship service is our large item loans, stocking car seats, strollers, bikes and more for families to check-out and back in just like a library. By providing a service like this, the only one with a 90-mile+ radius of Cerro Gordo county, we contribute to a smoother transition for children entering foster care, promoting their safety, comfort and sense of belonging.
